We gathered a mixed group of enthusiastic teachers and students that is motivated to make the school and the nearby municipalities of Soest and Baarn more sustainable and circular. We started with a group of 4 teachers and now have found about 17 students from the ninth and tenth grade. We want to expand the group in the future by making ourselves more visible in school.

We have created a bee garden with multiple plants, trees (willows), nesting areas for the wild bees at our school grounds. Next to the garden we created an outside classroom that can be used by the whole school to have outside lessons, for example about the bees. The fruit trees will be ordered and planted soon. We will also buy a garden shed for our garden tools.

It is our goal to sell the fruits from the fruit trees at our school canteen. Therefore, we need to maintain the garden together with our students. We also want to add a compost pile, to create a closed cycle in our garden.

In the end it is our goal to make the whole school more aware of circular economy, the endangered wild bees and sustainability. When we have completed the garden, we want to start a collaboration with the municipalities of Soest and Baarn. We have made contact with them and they are informed about our project. We now have to find out, how our expertise can contribute to the municipalities.
