Since the 2017/18 school year, Gymnasium Ohmoor has been one of eight project schools from Germany, the Czech Republic and the Netherlands participating in the Erasmus+ project GeoCIRCLE. The aim is to bring pupils from grades 8 to 12 closer together to address the issue of sustainability/circular economy and to find solutions independently to make their (school) environment more sustainable. They are given a project assignment and in student consultancies they are asked to present a solution to the client - for example our school management.

In cooperation with the climate club, pupils from year 8 meet weekly in their lunch break and already developed many ideas, for example of drinking bottles in the "Ohmoor design" or an awareness-raising campaign for the reduction of paper. Furthermore, the project is embedded in Geography and Nature and Sciene lessons, for example when pupils deal with the topics of consumer behaviour and sustainability in bilingual Geography courses and exchange their project ideas with each other.

We also take part in various cross-curricular exchanges in which our students work together with students from our partner schools on assignments on the topic of circular economies, thus promoting our intercultural competence.

All in all, the project offers the opportunity for students to deal with the highly relevant topic of "sustainability" in a practical way and to develop solutions. The implementation within consultancies further promotes independence and spatial competence and responsibility of the students, which is a central goal of not only Geography classes.
